U.S. Intensifies Airstrikes on Iran as Conflict Enters Fifth Day

The conflict between the United States and Iran escalated sharply on July 15, marking the fifth consecutive day of direct military exchanges. U.S. CENTCOM launched a significant wave of airstrikes targeting coastal defense installations on Greater Tunb Island and nuclear-adjacent infrastructure near the Bushehr power plant. This military action follows a total naval blockade enacted by the U.S. on July 14. President Donald Trump, in a recent interview, escalated his rhetoric by threatening to destroy Iran’s entire civilian infrastructure—including power plants and bridges—as well as suspected underground nuclear facilities at "Pickaxe Mountain" if a diplomatic breakthrough is not achieved within a week. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have launched successful retaliatory strikes against the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, as well as facilities in Kuwait and Jordan. The humanitarian toll is also rising, with Iranian officials reporting over 30 civilian deaths and hundreds of injuries resulting from the four rounds of overnight U.S. strikes.
