U.S. and Iran Trade Strikes in Gulf Region as Maritime Conflict Escalates

Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated sharply over the last 24 hours as kinetic exchanges shifted toward critical maritime corridors and regional host nations. Following the interception of four Iranian attack drones, U.S. forces conducted strikes against Iranian coastal radar and surveillance installations on Qeshm Island and in Goruk. The Trump administration framed these actions as necessary measures to protect commercial shipping and regional maritime traffic from immediate threats. In response, Iranian state media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. military interests, including the 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and an airbase in Kuwait.
