IAEA Issues Urgent Warning on Iran Nuclear Monitoring as U.S. House Limits War Powers

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has issued a confidential report stating it can no longer fully verify Iran’s nuclear activities, including the size and location of its enriched-uranium stockpile. The agency described Iran’s cooperation as "indispensable and urgent," noting that it has only been granted access to the Bushehr power plant since February. Iran currently maintains 440.9 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%, a level technically close to weapons-grade. However, negotiations remain hampered by disputes over frozen Iranian assets and continued military friction in Lebanon, where Iran’s Quds Force chief Esmail Qaani has demanded an Israeli withdrawal. Regional security remains volatile following an Iranian drone strike that heavily damaged the main passenger terminal at Kuwait’s airport, resulting in one death and numerous injuries. While a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in Lebanon is under discussion, the U.S. maintains its maritime blockade of Iranian ports, contributing to sustained global fuel price elevations and ongoing economic pressure on the Islamic Republic.
