Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated on Tuesday as oil prices reacted to a deepening diplomatic stalemate. President Trump, following a meeting with his national security team, indicated that Iran's latest proposal was inadequate. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reaffirmed the administration's "red lines," which include the total removal of Iran's highly enriched uranium and the guaranteed freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The diplomatic impasse is reportedly exacerbated by internal friction within the Iranian leadership. Foreign Affairs Minister Abbas Araghchi informed regional mediators that no consensus exists in Tehran regarding U.S. demands, particularly concerning nuclear concessions. Meanwhile, a dual blockade remains in effect: Iran continues to obstruct shipping in the Strait of Hormuz while the U.S. maintains a blockade of Iranian ports. In a separate development, Iranian state media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) recovered over 15 unexploded U.S. missiles near Bandar Abbas. The IRGC claims these weapons have been moved to research centers for reverse-engineering. The current deadlock follows a breakdown in peace talks in Pakistan, with European leaders like German Chancellor Friedrich Merz suggesting the Iranian regime currently holds a strategic advantage in the stalled negotiations.
