The conflict between Israel and Iran has escalated significantly in its fourth week. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a series of airstrikes targeting Malek Ashtar University in Tehran, a site allegedly used for nuclear weapons research and ballistic missile development. Additional strikes hit dozens of IRGC ballistic missile sites, fuel facilities, and storage complexes in eastern and western Iran, further degrading Tehran's launch capabilities. In response, Iran's Foreign Minister announced that diplomatic efforts have concluded, stating there is no remaining trust and threatening to retaliate against U.S. and Israeli energy infrastructure. Amid the military escalation, President Donald Trump has lifted decades-old sanctions on some Iranian oil in a strategic move to stabilize global energy markets and counter sharp hikes in U.S. fuel prices. While President Trump stated that objectives—including the degradation of Iranian naval and missile capacity—are nearly met, the G7 has issued a formal call for an unconditional halt to Iranian strikes following an attack on a UK-owned bulk carrier near the UAE coast. On the ground in Israel, a humanitarian crisis continues to build as rocket barrages from Iran and Hezbollah target central and northern regions, including Tel Aviv, Petah Tikva, and Dimona. These attacks have resulted in over 100 injuries and at least one fatality. Despite the ongoing violence, Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon indicated that operations are proceeding in close coordination with the United States to dismantle Iranian proxy groups and regional military assets.
