The conflict between the United States and Iran has intensified significantly over the last 24 hours. Iranian drone strikes targeted the UAE’s Fujairah Port and successfully destroyed at least 10 U.S. Air Force refueling aircraft stationed on the ground. In response to the escalating violence, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a warning to UAE residents to evacuate areas surrounding U.S. military bases, labeling them legitimate targets. This follows heavy U.S. strikes on Kharg Island, which reportedly destroyed 90 targets and crippled 90% of Iran’s oil export infrastructure. Direct military action has been accompanied by disruptions within Iran. Basij paramilitary checkpoints in Tehran were struck by drones in attacks linked to cyber intrusions that have reportedly compromised Iranian command networks. Meanwhile, New Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, despite reports of recent injuries, has vowed to continue the resistance against U.S. and Israeli actions. Internal pressure is mounting on the Iranian regime as Gulf states further align with Washington in the wake of the port attacks. On the diplomatic and economic front, President Trump has announced that U.S. warships will begin escorting oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz to counter Iranian mining attempts and stabilize spiking oil prices. The administration is also considering the deployment of additional Marines to the region. While BRICS nations, led by India, have attempted to open diplomatic channels, the bloc has failed to reach a unified stance. Qatar has issued an urgent plea for de-escalation, warning that the continued targeting of nations hosting U.S. assets poses a "profound" threat to global energy markets.
