U.S. Escalates Military Operations Against Iran with Targeted Strikes and B-2 Deployments

The Trump administration has significantly ramped up military pressure on Tehran, with President Trump announcing that U.S. forces have "totally obliterated" military targets on Kharg Island. While the island serves as the primary hub for Iran's oil network, the President noted that energy infrastructure was deliberately spared during the operation. However, the U.S. issued a stern warning that any Iranian attempts to disrupt maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz would result in direct strikes on those oil facilities. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reported that U.S. and Israeli forces have successfully engaged more than 15,000 targets since the onset of the current hostilities. Hegseth characterized recent Iranian maneuvers in the Strait of Hormuz as signs of "sheer desperation," claiming that Iran's leadership has been forced into hiding underground.
